The Applied Methods logo is a simple mark, but there are a few ideas behind it.

Knot shape: The main shape is loosely based on a musubi, or knot. For me, that suggests connection and the bringing together of different ideas and methods. It also has something of a belt knot about it, which seemed appropriate without making the logo too obviously martial arts related.

Interlocking loops: The interlocking shape was intended to look deliberate rather than decorative. I wanted something simple, balanced and recognizable.

Red block: The red block was influenced by the idea of an inkan or hanko seal, the personal stamps traditionally used in Japan on documents and artwork. In the logo it is simply a small personal mark, rather than something intended to suggest rank or authority.

There is no hidden message in the logo and it is not meant to represent a particular style or system.

It is simply the visual identity I chose for Applied Methods, and one that I felt suited what I am trying to do here.
